Atlanta workers' compensation lawyer Brian H. Sumrall was born in Mobile, Alabama, and raised in Columbus, Georgia. He graduated from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Mr. Sumrall earned his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. During law school, Mr. Sumrall was a member of the Moot Court Board. He also served as an extern for the Fulton County Solicitor's Office gaining him courtroom experience while still in law school.

Early Career

Before representing injured workers, Mr. Sumrall defended employers and insurance companies against workers' compensation claims for over six years. As a part of a major Atlanta defense firm, Brian tried a number of workers' compensation cases, and handled hundreds of depositions. Mr. Sumrall also negotiated settlements on behalf of insurance companies and employers, and advised employers and insurance companies on how best to handle workers' compensation claims.

Certainly, his experience working for employers and insurance companies during those six years provided Mr. Sumrall with invaluable insight and unique perspective allowing him to more effectively represent injured workers.

Since leaving a major Atlanta workers' compensation law firm, Mr. Sumrall has dedicated himself to serving injured workers throughout the State of Georgia. Brian served as a board member of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Atlanta Bar from 2011 to 2018. He chaired the Atlanta Bar’s Advanced Workers’ Compensation Seminar in 2016, and served as the Section Chair for the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Atlanta Bar from 2017 to 2018.

He now represents individuals who have been injured on the job and has found this to be much more rewarding than representing insurance companies. During the past several years, Mr. Sumrall has helped countless injured workers navigate the complex workers' compensation system in Georgia. Mr. Sumrall has assisted injured workers throughout Georgia, and he prides himself on being personally available to all of his clients. 

Mr. Sumrall is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. Further, Brian has been admitted to practice in front of the Georgia Court of Appeals. In September 2008, Mr. Sumrall spoke at the Atlanta Claims Convention. During that speech, he addressed insurance adjusters and attorneys on issues pertaining to recent changes to the Georgia Workers' Compensation Act and recent Georgia case law.

Trial Experience

Brian Sumrall is an experienced trial attorney. He completed an externship with the Fulton County Solicitor in law school where he gained valuable courtroom experience, and even tried cases as a third year law student. Mr. Sumrall then worked for a major Atlanta law firm for six years, and participated in all aspects of litigation on hundreds of cases. Mr. Sumrall has tried a number of workers' compensation cases as well.

Settlement and Negotiations
